2025 Excellence in Research Award Winner

We are thrilled to announce the recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Research Award. This distinction is presented by Research & Design (REDE) to recognize studies that demonstrate high scientific quality, originality, and profound contributions to interdisciplinary knowledge.

Based on its innovative methodological approach and significant insights into cross-cultural semantics, the Editorial Committee has selected the following article as this year’s winner:

Title: Cultural dimensions in the perception of success: Comparative analysis of word associations across languages using LLM word embedding

Author: Hayri Baytan Ozmen

Issue: 2025; 2(1): 1-15

Why This Paper?

This innovative study leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) embedding method to uncover how the concept of “success” is constructed across nine different languages. By analyzing semantic associations with attributes such as effort, ambition, and collaboration, the research reveals universal truths, such as the central role of effort, while simultaneously mapping distinct cultural divergences between individualistic and collectivist societies.

The paper stands out for its creative use of computational tools to answer complex social science questions, perfectly embodying REDE’s mission to bridge the gap between technical innovation and human understanding.

We congratulate Hayri Baytan Ozmen for this creative approach using engineering principles to analyze social phenomenon and for good example of research value.
