Author Rights
Authors publishing in the Journal of Research & Design (REDE) retain the following rights (the “Author Rights”):
1. Proprietary Rights
Authors retain all proprietary rights other than copyright, such as patent rights.
2. Use on Author or Employer Websites
Authors have the right to use the REDE-prepared version of the article, without revision or modification, on their personal or employer’s website.
3. Educational and Research Use
Authors may make copies of all or part of the article, including the REDE-prepared version, without revision or modification, for personal, educational, or research purposes. If the REDE-prepared version is used in a publication or product that charges a fee, written permission from REDE must be obtained.
4. Creation of Derivative Works
Authors may create derivative works from the article, provided the following conditions are met:
- At least one author of the derived work is an author of the original article.
- The derivative work contains at least 30% new material not covered by REDE’s copyright.
- The derivative work includes no more than 50% of the original article’s text (including equations).
If these conditions are satisfied, copyright in the derivative work rests with its authors. If the conditions are not met, explicit permission from REDE must be obtained. These rights do not limit REDE (or its successors and assigns) from exercising its own copyright in the original article.
All copies or derivatives must include appropriate bibliographic citations and a notice of REDE’s copyright.
These rights ensure authors can leverage their work while maintaining REDE’s commitment to ethical and rigorous academic publishing.
